Attend a conference?

Northeast Writing Centers Association Conference -- Propose by Dec.1

Tutors, should we propose a session at this conference? Potsdam tutors have presented twice before and have really enjoyed the experience of attending the conference. Please read the "call for proposals" at the link (click on conference title) and suggest your ideas soon.

The conference will be held during the second weekend of our spring break.

Sad, but True: CWC policy on food

I'm writing to clarify the CWC policy on food and drink. Drinks are welcome anywhere in the CWC, as long as you're careful not to spill on computer keyboards.

Food is definitely discouraged. If you're taking a lunch break, I encourage you to take it in Becky's or the English student lounge. If you really want to have food in the CWC, eat only in the Writery.
You can have dry or cold food that doesn't "stink up the place," as I like to say. Hot meals are not okay because they affect the whole atmosphere.

Eating in the main room is not okay, because clients, as they enter the CWC, need to see a fully professional environment focused on tutoring. I have spoken with clients in the past who have been
affected by tutors' eating in the CWC: they don't want to interrupt your lunch.

So please set up your schedule so you have time to eat a good meal outside the CWC.

New Crane Library Hours

Sunday and Monday evenings 7-9pm.
Walk-in consultations with CWC tutors who are also Crane students -- Andromahi Kontos and Mark Turner. Find them in the Crane Library Seminar Room.

Welcome to the CWC blog

Check in here for the latest news from the CWC -- reminders, changes, upcoming events, and food for thought.

Some posts will be labelled "for Peer Tutors": these are invitations to brainstorm or announcements that only tutors really need to know about. Other posts are intended for all readers: Peer Tutors, CWC Clients, and Potsdam Faculty & Staff.

"Followers" can send me posts and I'll add them.

Check in to keep up. Thanks! Dr. Mitchell
